As part of the project “Improvement of Waste Management Infrastructure and Integration of 10 RS Circular Economy for Sustainable Development of Ulcinj, Vinkovci, and Orašje” three workshops were held on the topic of the circular economy.
Over three days in Ulcinj, all participants were introduced to the concept and advantages of the circular economy, EU regulations and national legislation, as well as examples of good practices in waste separation. Discussions also covered the reduction of seasonal waste and waste management in tourist regions, digital solutions for sustainable tourism, and plastic waste management.

In Orašje, the focus was on the specificities of waste management in Bosnia and Herzegovina, construction waste, methods of waste separation and recycling, and the need for citizen education.
In Vinkovci, the three-day training centered on bio-waste management, electrical and electronic waste, so-called “green jobs,” and the importance of recycling yards in the circular economy.

n all three locations, participants worked in groups after the lectures to find the best solutions. In Vinkovci, they also visited three companies: Nevkoš d.o.o., which provides municipal services; Stari Grad d.o.o., which manufactures packaging and waste bags from recycled materials; and Fidus Grupa d.o.o., which produces concrete from recycled materials and disposes of construction waste in an environmentally friendly way.
At the end of the joint workshops, certificates were awarded to more than 15 relevant actors from the cross-border area working in the waste management sector.
