Operation purpose and expected achievements:
PA.CON II enhances the potential of natural resources and develops sustainable tourism activities in the cross-border region. Through investments in tourism infrastructure, the partnership aims to improve the attractiveness of three project locations: Sopotac picnic area in Nijemci (HR), Ilinčica picnic site in Tuzla (BA) and National Park Lovćen (ME). Development of eco-friendly tourism services focused on birdwatching, recreation and outdoor activities will strengthen the capacities of insufficiently valorised sites to attract new visitors. The upgraded regional cycling and walking route will be connected to major tourist attractions across all three countries, forming an integral part of the shared tourism experience.
Beneficiaries:
The Lead Partner (LP), Municipality of Nijemci (HR), coordinates the partnership and ensures effective project implementation. LP is responsible for improvement of Sopotac picnic area through strategic infrastructure investments. The site improvements include construction of 1 birdwatching observation deck, arrangement of 3 existing bicycle routes (129 km) and 1 thematic playground, procurement of 5 electrical bicycles, 3 smart benches and 1 info totem. Municipality of Nijemci will also develop a joint marketing plan for new tourist offer.
City of Tuzla (BA) is investing in tourism infrastructure at Ilinčica site. The site improvements include construction of 1 birdwatching tower, adaptation of the Nature Park House complex, procurement of 1 electric van for transportation of visitors to and from Ilničica site, installation of 3 smart benches, procurement of bird-watching equipment, equipping of the Visitor Centre and installation of 10 public water fountains along the cycling-walking route.
Development Association NERDA (BA), brings extensive experience in the management of EU funded projects. PP3 coordinates all project activities in BA, contributes to project visibility and promotion, and actively participates in capacity-building activities. NERDA team is responsible for reconstruction and equipping of the Visitor centre in Tuzla, installation of the video surveillance system at the Ilinčica site, and procurement of various outdoor equipment for eco-friendly activities (15 electrical bicycles, 3 bike charging stations, bird-watching equipment, etc.)
Center for Protection and Research of Birds – CZIP (ME) coordinates project visibility and promotion, and actively participates in capacity building activities. PP4 is responsible for procurement of various outdoor equipment for targeted tourism locations in ME: 10 electric bicycles, thematic bird-watching and photo equipment, installation of 3 solar benches within NP Lovćen, etc. PP4 will also organize 8 thematic educations for various target groups and 1 joint study tour for project partners.
Public Enterprise for National Parks of Montenegro – NPCG (ME) coordinates investment activities in NP Lovćen. Targeted improvements of tourist infrastructure and services include restoration of Kraljevo počivalo viewpoint, adaptation and equipping of the Visitor Centre, signalization of cycling and hiking trails and procurement of 1 electric vehicle for transport of visitors. PP5 will actively participate in joint project activities and contribute to promotion of new tourist offer.
