On 27 November 2024, the “AllerShield – Strengthening Crossborder Solutions for Managing Allergenic Plants and Enhancing Climate Resilience” project was officially launched.
The project aims to improve environmental conditions in Zadar County (Croatia), Banja Luka (Bosnia and Herzegovina), and Podgorica (Montenegro) through expanded pollen monitoring and the prevention of invasive allergenic plants.
At the Kick-off Conference, key stakeholders highlighted the significance of real-time pollen data, which will help citizens and tourists manage their exposure to allergens and improve public health. This project will also create a new online monitoring platform, making air quality data more accessible. By addressing invasive species and enhancing the aerobiological network, AllerShield aims to provide long-term, scientifically-backed solutions to improve air quality, agriculture, biodiversity, and public health.
The project is a collaboration between local institutions from all three participating countries, with a focus on shared solutions for the region’s environmental and health challenges.
