Operation purpose and expected achievements:
The project aims to improve basic conditions for implementing circular economy policies in the City of Trilj (HR), City of Banja Luka (BA) and Municipality of Kotor (ME) by investing in the required waste management infrastructure and equipment. Apart from that, it is planned to organize several educational workshops and creative competitions for elementary school and high school children, aimed to raising their awareness about the benefits of circular economy. Moreover, a several project activities are envisaged aiming at raising knowledge and competences of the key circular economy policy stakeholders in the target project area (such as study visits, workshops and round tables). Finally, it is planned to create a digital solution for monitoring of the quantities of waste disposed on the recycling yard in the City of Trilj.
Beneficiaries:
The Lead Partner (LP), City of Trilj (HR), is responsible for procurement of specialised waste collection and waste separation equipment to be used in the City of Trilj, organisation of a roundtable discussion on the topic of efficient waste separation practices, organisation of a site visit to their location (where other project partners will learn from successful waste separation practices and innovative digital solutions), organisation of the educational program “Towards Sustainability: Circular Economy for Youth” with interactive workshops and creative sessions for elementary school students to learn about waste management and circular economy practices.
Institute for Protection and Ecology of the Republic of Srpska (BA) is responsible for conducting a specialized circular economy training for representatives of relevant public authorities in Banja Luka, implementation of the educational program “Towards Sustainability: Circular Economy for Youth” (educating students in Banja Luka about waste management and sustainable practices) and organising roundtable discussions on the topic of the development of efficient waste management strategies.
Komunalno Kotor (ME) is responsible for procurement of specialized equipment for collection and separation of waste to be used in the Municipality of Kotor, organising the eco-competition “Thinking Differently – Clean and Useful” in Kotor (aimed at encouraging waste separation and recycling in schools), conducting a roundtable discussion on the topic of efficient waste separation practices, and organising a site visit to their composting facility (showcasing sustainable organic waste management practices).
