On 5th September 2025, the City of Bihać took part in the 21st International Ecology Fair EKOBIS 2025, where they proudly showcased the RECIRCLE project—an initiative implemented under the Interreg VI-A IPA Croatia–Bosnia and Herzegovina–Montenegro Programme.
RECIRCLE aims to foster cross-border cooperation in advancing sustainable waste management practices. The project addresses the urgent need for improved local capacity in waste separation, recycling, and reuse, while actively promoting circular economy principles throughout the region.
Key Objectives of RECIRCLE:
- Strengthen institutional and local capacities for separate waste collection and processing
- Support the transition to a circular economy model
- Raise public awareness about sustainable waste management practices
Concrete Results for Bihać
As a direct outcome of the RECIRCLE project, the City of Bihać will soon acquire a new waste collection vehicle equipped with modern technology, along with the installation of underground waste containers. This infrastructure upgrade will significantly support Bihać’s ongoing green transition and environmental goals.
