Operation purpose and expected achievements:
The main objective of the PATODIGITAL project is to improve the efficiency of the work of health institutions in the field of pathology through digital pathology and telepathology which enables remote consultations, making it possible for pathologists to provide their expertise even in areas with limited access to pathology services. Project aims to improve educational capacity of the staff of partner hospitals through joint training schemes in pathology. Also, one of the important project activities is piloting cross-border (joint) telepathology tool for the exchange of opinions and diagnoses between pathologists of three institutions. Within the project, a formal protocol and tool on CB (joint) telepathology will be defined and adopted. In order to improve the working conditions in the pathology sector, including laboratory work, the project will invest in new space for the Pathology centre of hospitality of Bar.
Beneficiaries:
The Lead Partner (LP), General Hospital Bar (ME), is responsible for improving quality of healthcare services for patients and providing them with new diagnostic procedure in hospital Bar. This will be accomplished through the following activities: participation in education/training activities (e.g. molecular pathology training), participation in creating joint telepathology tool, implementing new pathology equipment, organisation and implementation of community focused awareness increasing campaign. The Lead partner will also be responsible for establishing a modern and adequate space for pathology in Bar Hospital, with a focus on digital pathology and telepathology.
General hospital Zadar (HR), is responsible for implementing main project activities through education/training, creating joint telepathology tool, implementing new pathology equipment, participation in project meetings and implementation of community focused awareness increasing campaign.
University of Mostar – Faculty of Medicine (BA) will also participate in all foreseen project activities: education/training, gathering knowledge on creating joint telepathology tool, implementing new pathology equipment, participation in project meetings and implementation of community focused awareness increasing campaign.
