This stimulator is implanted in patients with severe pharmacoresistant epilepsy, which affects one-third of all people with epilepsy. Stimulator was successfully implanted In the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the first time in a 17-year-old girl from Mostar. This new service eliminates the need for patients to seek treatment abroad.
The Federal Ministry of Health has provided all the prerequisites for the introduction of this service for patients in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina through the NeurNet project, financed within Interreg IPA Cross-border Cooperation Programme Croatia – Bosnia and Herzegovina – Montenegro 2014-2020.
During the implementation of the NeurNet project (October 2017-July 2020), valuable equipment was acquired for a number of hospitals in the programme area. Also, professional cooperation was established with the reference center for epilepsy in Dubrava Hospital in Zagreb, and the exchange of medical documentation was enabled for consultation purposes.
