Developing innovation network for uptake of solutions in robotics and sensors to improve monitoring and prevention of pollution of freshwater and sea ecosystems (ROBONETCBC)

Operation purpose and expected achievements:
The project ROBONETCBC aims to promote and encourage an innovative application of blue technologies by addressing monitoring solution as a prevention tool for further devastation and pollution and ensure the sustainable use of marine and freshwater ecosystems within the region. This will be achieved by the analysis of current state of monitoring systems and equipment for marine and freshwater ecosystems in Programme countries. This includes identifying collaborations and partnerships among stakeholders involved in monitoring and data collection, with a particular focus on blue technologies such as robotics and sensors for monitoring various indicators. At least a two hotspots per country will be identified (e.g., in the areas of Šibenik Bay, Krka National Park, Neum Bay, Kotor Bay, rivers and lakes in BiH and ME, etc.) with the biggest potential for impact on environment and/or public health (air pollution, noise pollution, salinity and turbidity of water, biodiversity, etc.).


 

Beneficiaries:

The Lead Partner (LP), University of Zadar (HR), is responsible for conducting comprehensive analysis of marine and freshwater ecosystems in Neretva channel, conduction of analysis of all relevant obstacles in monitoring of selected hot spots, analysis of key challenges and obstacles in monitoring quality of marine and freshwater ecosystems, drawing out of a joint cross-border action plan for improvement of existing monitoring systems in relation to innovation and technologies, organisation of a knowledge-transfer workshop, developing and implementation a high-tech monitoring concept for hotspots in Croatia (including purchasing of relevant monitoring equipment) and investigation of potential investment opportunities on national, regional and EU level.

Ruđer Bošković Institute (HR) is responsible for procurement of high-tech marine and freshwater monitoring equipment, analysis of key challenges and obstacles in monitoring quality of marine and freshwater ecosystems, drawing out of a joint cross-border action plan for improvement of existing monitoring systems in relation to innovation and technologies, developing and implementation a high-tech monitoring concept for hotspots in Croatia, and investigation of potential investment opportunities on national, regional and EU level.

Šibenik-Knin County (HR) is responsible for conducting comprehensive analysis of marine and freshwater ecosystems in Šibenik area, organisation of kick-off meeting and stakeholder meeting in Šibenik, procurement of high-tech marine and freshwater monitoring equipment, and drawing out a joint cross-border action plan for improvement of existing monitoring systems in relation to innovation and new technologies.

Chamber of Economy of Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BA) is responsible for conduction of analysis of all relevant obstacles in monitoring of selected hotspots, analysis of key challenges and obstacles in monitoring quality of marine and freshwater ecosystems, drawing out of a joint cross-border action plan for improvement of existing monitoring systems in relation to innovation and new technologies, organisation of an expert workshop in Mostar, preparation of testing sites in hotspots in Bosnia and Herzegovina, developing and implementation a high-tech monitoring concept for hotspots in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and mapping of investment options and innovative startups and SMEs related to blue growth.

University of Montenegro – Faculty of maritime studies Kotor (ME) is responsible for conducting comprehensive analysis of marine and freshwater ecosystems in Montenegro, organisation of a meeting with relevant stakeholders, conduction of analysis of all relevant obstacles in monitoring of predefined hot spots, analysis of key challenges and obstacles in monitoring quality of marine and freshwater ecosystems, organisation of demonstration event, drawing out of a joint cross-border action plan for improvement of existing monitoring systems in relation to innovation and new technologies, organisation of consultations and awareness-raising event and developing and implementation a high-tech monitoring concept for hotspots in Montenegro.
