Operation purpose and expected achievements:
In Trebinje, Konavle, and Herceg Novi, water shortages have been a challenge, impacting urban growth and tourism for years. A regional water supply system was introduced nearly 50 years ago. Now, with climate change threatening to make things worse, the WATERLINK project is stepping in with modern solutions to secure water supply for the future.
This project focuses on smart water management by integrating climate change into planning, improving water quality, and tackling scarcity. It also aims to implement smart pricing and enhance forecasting. One of the goals is to cut technical water losses in cross-border supply system to 30%. Also, WATERLINK is dedicated to raising awareness in the community about the importance of preserving water resources, especially drinking water.


 

Beneficiaries:

The Lead partner (LP), City of Trebinje (BA) brings proven experience in EU project management and partnership coordination, as a frequent implementer of a projects focused on environmental protection and water management.


Water supply and sewerage Herceg Novi (ME) plays an important technical role in the successful implementation of the project. Among other things, the partner is responsible for zoning and planning of measurement and georeferencing with the creation of a hydraulic model aiming to improve regional water supply system.


Municipality of Konavle (HR), is responsible for the GIS recording as well as preparation of technical documentation for Konavle water supply connection. As a founder, it conducts all project activities in synergy with Konavle utility company, which provides technical and expert assistance in project implementation.
