As part of the RECIRCLE project, the City of Bihać has installed two sets of underground containers for the separate collection of waste within the Pilot Action. The containers, intended for paper, plastic, glass and mixed waste, have been placed in the densely populated neighbourhoods of Ozmice 1 and Ozmice 2.

The introduction of underground containers builds on partners’ previous experience with similar waste collection systems and represents a further step in improving local waste management practices. Through this jointly implemented Pilot Action, partners exchange knowledge and assess practical results in order to develop common solutions for future activities and projects.

The new infrastructure makes waste separation more accessible to citizens, encourages responsible disposal of waste, and helps reduce pressure on existing waste disposal sites in the area of Bihać. In addition, underground containers contribute to a more orderly and visually integrated urban environment, positively affecting the quality of public spaces.

By improving waste management systems, the RECIRCLE project supports environmentally, socially and economically sustainable development across the cross-border region, recognising that environmental protection is a shared responsibility and that pollution does not stop at national borders.
