On Saturday, 24 May 2025, the REVERS project was proudly presented at the event “Poslušaj glas prirode” (Listen to the Voice of Nature), held on the Zadar waterfront beneath the historic Roman Forum. This special event was organized to commemorate both the International Day for Biological Diversity and the Day of Nature Protection in the Republic of Croatia.
The manifestation brought together multiple public institutions dedicated to managing protected areas and Natura 2000 ecological networks. Their joint appearance aimed to highlight the importance of biodiversity conservation and raise public awareness of nature protection, with a special focus on educating younger generations.
The REVERS project was showcased by Croatian project partners, Velebit Nature Park, Natura Jadera, and Zadar County, who jointly contributed to the event’s rich program. Through interactive presentations and educational materials, visitors were introduced to the project’s goals—particularly its commitment to reversing the negative impacts of unsustainable tourism on sensitive ecosystems in the cross-border region of Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro.
As part of the event, participants were invited on a “magical journey” through the world of forests, rivers, seas, meadows, rocks, and flowers. Families and children engaged in hands-on educational workshops, where they learned about local wildlife and habitats, and participated in a nature-themed knowledge quiz with exciting prizes for the most curious minds.
REVERS used this opportunity to connect with the local community and raise awareness of its work in biodiversity research, bioindicator identification, and sustainable tourism development in the protected areas of Zrmanja, Una (Croatia), Krupa, Crnopac, Una (BiH), and Lovćen (Montenegro).
The event reinforced the REVERS mission: to empower communities to listen to nature and act in harmony with it. By participating in joint outreach activities like this one, the project continues to foster cross-border cooperation and contribute to the long-term preservation of the region’s natural heritage.
