Awards handed to the young innovators

Within the project “Innovative Minds for Smart Schools – SMART SCHOOLS” funed under the Interreg IPA CBC Program Croatia – Bosnia and Herzegovina – Montenegro, seven-day camp was held in Slavonski Brod, attended by 20 young innovators from Brod – Posavina County (RC) and Tuzla Canton (BiH). The innovators are the pupils of elementary and high schools from the mentioned region whose innovative ideas were selected among the best innovations within the competition „Innovative minds for smart energy“.
At the camp closing ceremony, Anica Vukašinović, Head of the Department for education, sport and culture of Brod – Posavina County, congratulated all innovators for their achievements and projects. They received the certificates, and each of them was awarded with backpack including integrated solar cell of sufficient power to charge the cell phone, for example. The Head of the Department for European Integrations and Development, Danijela Vinković attended the ceremony in behalf of Brod – Posavina Country as partner, as well as the representatives of the Technical Culture Association Slavonski Brod and the host, Industrial-Craft School.
Under the expert guidance of the mentors, young innovators produced the devices such as solar collector made of tins, solar self-propelled mower, smart waste bin, drying chamber – dehydrator, burn assistant and many other devices. In addition to technical designing and making, the innovators participated at several lectures about sustainable energy, workshops titled Small schools of sustainability, visited the exhibition Faust Vrančić in the Museum of Brod Posavina, and went to the excursions to Gajna and nature park Papuk during this camp.
All the produced innovations remain the ownership of the young innovators and shall be publicly exhibited next year at two festivals of solar innovations to be organised in Slavonski Brod and in Tuzla. Although only one innovation could be presented by one innovator at the camp, many of them are the result of the team work of pupils and the engagement of their mentors, and all their efforts shall be presented in the brochure to be published during the project implementation period.
