Center for Protection and Research of Birds as the Project Partner on the project Pannonia-Adria Connection (PA.CON), organized in Podgorica a 3-day Joint Cross-border Education “Bird-watching as a potential factor in tourism development” from 22-24 March 2022.
The goal of the organized CBC education is the improvement of capacities in the destination management and quality assurance system.
The participants were from institutions involved in the sector of tourism as well as the representatives of service providers and different actors in the tourism sector from all three countries involved in the implementation of the Project.
The educational programme provided participants with a better understanding of the concept of birdwatching, equipment, and literature for birdwatching (practical examples), the concept of the sustainable development of tourist destinations with an emphasis on selective tourism, the educational potential of birdwatching, ways of promotion of this activity and the role of bird watching in the protection of the environment.
During the education participants also had the opportunity to visit the National park Lake Skadar and experience firsthand what bird-watching is and what are the benefits of it when it comes to tourism development. At the end of the education, all participants received a Participation certificate.
PA.CON is implemented within the Interreg IPA Cross-border Cooperation Programme Croatia – Bosnia and Herzegovina – Montenegro 2014-2020. The project is co-financed by ERDF and IPA II funds of the European Union.
