Sarajevo hosted the Dissemination event on Digital Health, Chronic and Rare Diseases on 22 October, where the NeurNet project presented their achievements in improving healthcare in the cross-border area.
The NeurNet project addresses the issue of treating patients with pharmacoresistant epilepsy and advanced stage Parkinson’s disease. By establishing an ICT-based network that will enable audio-visual communication, remote diagnosis, medical data exchange and consultations, NeurNet seeks to improve health services and allow transfer of best practices among hospitals in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro.
As part of project activities to raise awareness about their impact in the healthcare sector, project manager Dženita Hukić showcased NeurNet at the Sarajevo event. Almost 100 participants attended the event and followed presentations about different actions of the EU Health Programme, which is European Commission’s main instrument for the implementation of the European Union Health Strategy, and other EU-funded actions, including the Interreg IPA CBC Croatia-Bosnia and Herzegovina-Montenegro programme. The opportunity was used to highlight the importance of Interreg projects for various sectors in cross-border regions, including healthcare.

The NeurNet project is implemented by three partners from Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro within the Programme Priority Axis 1: Improving the quality of the services in public health and social care sector. The total budget of the project is 865.763,92 EUR and the total EU co-financing is 735.899,32 EUR of ERDF and IPA II funds. The project started on 15 October 2017 and is expected to finish on 14 April 2020.
