The opening ceremony of the competition “Change habits, equip school” was held on 30 November 2021, to announce ceremonially the commencement of the competition. Due to the epidemiological conditions, the ceremony was organised as online event. The students from over 50 schools from Tuzla Canton and Brod-Posavina County, participating in the competition, were able to hear important details about the competition itself and educational tools prepared for them within project SMART SCHOOLS 2, co-funded through the Interreg IPA cross-border cooperation programme Croatia-Bosnia and Herzegovina-Montenegro 2014-2020.
The ceremony was opened by Elvis Baraković, Minister of Education and Science of the Tuzla Canton and Anica Vukašinović, Head of Administrative Department for education, sport and culture of the Brod Posavina County. The video from the opening ceremony is available here.
„Change habits – equip school“ is the competition of primary and high schools students from Tuzla Canton (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and Brod-Posavina County (Republic of Croatia) within the sphere of electricity, thermal energy and water saving, to be held from 1 December 2021 to 31 March 2022. In that period, the participants from 118 primary and high schools shall prove that energy and water consumption may be decreased in their school only with change of their behaviour.
The winners of this competition, one from Tuzla Canton and another from Brod-Posavina County, will be announced at the closing ceremony in May 2022. Each of two winner schools will be awarded with installation of Central Energy Management System – CEMS. Installation and training of managing CEMS for school employees and students on management of this system shall be done in October 2022, enabling schools to achieve even bigger energy savings in future.
