The Programme celebrated European Cooperation Day and 30 years of Interreg by planting 10 trees in Karlovac

Interreg IPA Cross-border Cooperation Programme Croatia – Bosnia and Herzegovina – Montenegro 2014 – 2020 in cooperation with the project partner North-West Croatia Regional Energy Agency – REGEA and Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds of the Republic of Croatia celebrated the European Cooperation Day 2020 and 30 years of Interreg by planting 10 sweet gum trees (lat. Liquidambar styraciflua) in Karlovac, on 6 October 2020.

The Minister of Regional Development and EU Funds, Ms Nataša Tramišak emphasised that this event symbolically represents the development of projects and future cooperation and growth. The Minister also presented the results of this Interreg Programme, which are 47 contracted projects in total value of more than 57 mil. EUR.

The Head of the European Commission Representation in Croatia, Mr Ognian Zlatev spoke of the importance of Interreg programmes, which encourage the regions and countries to face challenges and seek solutions that can only be achieved by cooperation.

The celebration was also attended by the Director of REGEA Mr Julije Domac, dr.sc., the Mayor of the City of Karlovac, Mr Damir Mandić and the Deputy Mayor of Karlovac County, Ms Vesna Hajsan Dolinar, dr.sc.

The participants jointly planted 10 trees in front of the Kindergarten Grabrik, which are a sustainable reminder of the numerous successful projects and cooperation.

Through the Interreg 30 campaign, 30 trees in total will be planted in three participating countries.
