Wrecks4All project aims to create an innovative tourism offer based on the underwater cultural heritage of the Eastern Adriatic region. The project area has many authentic shipwrecks and other underwater heritage sites that are highly regarded among tourists, and in particular among the scuba diving community. Wrecks4All project integrates immersive technologies such as augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) to bring unreachable sites closer to tourists. An innovative tourism offer (9 VR/AR tours and a virtual map of underwater heritage trails) will be available in newly refurbished showrooms in Split (HR), Mostar (BA) and Kotor (ME). The project also supports the development of training programmes adapted to the needs of the digital cultural heritage sector and, explores the benefits and potentials of the scuba diving tourism industry.
The Lead partner (LP), University of Montenegro, Faculty of Maritime Studies (ME) is responsible for overall project management and administration. Besides performing the duties assigned to LP, Faculty of Maritime Studies coordinates a range of capacity building activities in the areas of underwater archaeology and scuba diving tourism. Small-scale investment activities implemented by this partner include: equipping 1 scuba diving training center in Kotor and refurbishing/equipping 1 showroom for VR/AR tours.
Project partner 2, Tourism Organisation of Municipality of Bar (ME) supports targeted communication activities and ensures a meaningful and effective social media presence. This partner coordinates the photogrammetric scanning of the shipwrecks in the Montenegrin part of the project area and hosts a series of workshops on underwater cultural heritage and scuba-diving tourism sites.
Project partner 3, Tourist Board of Herzegovina – Neretva Canton (BA) coordinates the mapping of underwater cultural heritage sites and trails in the wider area of Mostar. In addition, project partner 3 hosts a range of capacity building activities in the areas of destination management, valorisation of underwater cultural heritage and scuba diving tourism. Small-scale investment activities implemented by this partner include: refurbishing and equipping 1 showroom for VR and AR tours and equipping 1 scuba diving training center in Mostar.
Project partner 4, University of Split, Faculty of Maritime Studies (HR) supports the development of the training programmes for underwater archaeology courses and promotes the collaboration between the scientific community and the scuba diving industry. In addition, project partner 4 coordinates the photogrammetric scanning of the shipwrecks in the Croatian part of the project area.
Project partner 5, Croatian Maritime Museum Split (HR) participates in the mapping of shipwrecks and other underwater cultural heritage sites in Croatia. Together with other project partners, Croatian Maritime Museum Split supports the development of a virtual map of underwater heritage trails. The partner is also responsible for the coordination and implementation of regional workshops on destination management.
