APplication Of upscaLed interregionaL renewable & energy efficiency sOlutions (APOLLO)
Priority Axis 2: Green investments in environmental protection and efficient risk management
Operation start date: 15 July 2024
Operation completion date: 14 January 2027
Budget: EUR 2.262.234,00
Number of partners: 5
Operation purpose and expected achievements:
The APOLLO project aims to boost energy efficiency and lower greenhouse gas emissions in the project area. This will be achieved by establishing interconnected and up-scaled energy management communities and encouraging environmentally friendly investments. The project specifically focuses on decision-makers and energy experts in the public sector within the project area, intending to transform public institutions and influence how they generate, connect, and use energy.
The project will conduct a comprehensive analysis of the potential and optimal use of renewable energy sources with smart solutions. It will develop an innovative knowledge base in the form of digital tool/web platform (Joint EE&RES Tool), which will serve as an educational tool accessible to the general public. Also, energy communities will be established and education and awareness-raising campaigns for stakeholders and the public will be provided. To demonstrate capabilities of energy communities, new photovoltaic systems will be introduced and installed in the project area in various locations, including cities, municipalities, underdeveloped areas, islands, public institutions, primary and secondary schools, and more. In the transport and public mobility sector, the project will demonstrate how the adoption of energy-efficient vehicles like buses or electric passenger vehicles can lead to a substantial reduction in CO2 emissions and significant cost savings.
