APOLLO Project Presented at the “Energy Communities in Practice” Conference

Our APOLLO project, was presented at the international conference “Energy Communities in Practice: From the Legal Framework to Local Implementation”, held on September 24–25 2026 in Bol, on the island of Brač.

The conference brought together decision-makers, representatives of public institutions, local and regional authorities, energy sector stakeholders, development organisations and other actors involved in the development of energy communities and the green transition.

Organised within the framework of the APOLLO, ISLET, COMET and DBU/ECF Fast Forward Energy Communities projects, the conference provided a platform for exchanging experiences and presenting practical approaches to the development of energy communities and renewable energy initiatives in Croatia, the region and the European Union.

The programme focused on key aspects of establishing and developing energy communities, with particular attention to the transition from the legal framework to practical implementation. Discussions addressed regulatory and administrative challenges, access to the electricity grid, financing opportunities, energy sharing, as well as the role of cities, municipalities and counties in developing local energy initiatives.

A significant part of the conference was dedicated to concrete examples and experiences from local communities, highlighting different approaches to developing energy communities and renewable energy projects. Participants also discussed the importance of adapting solutions to local needs, available resources, technical conditions and the capacities of local stakeholders.

Within this context, the APOLLO project presented its approach to connecting energy communities, renewable energy, energy efficiency and investments in the public sector. Through its pilot activities and the development of local models, APOLLO aims to support more efficient energy management and contribute to the green transition in the cross-border area.

The conference provided a valuable opportunity to share knowledge and practical experiences, identify common challenges and explore solutions for the further development of energy communities. It also contributed to strengthening cooperation among institutions and stakeholders working towards more sustainable and locally driven energy systems.
