The open call for new cases of the b-solutions 3.0: Solving Border Obstacles to Facilitate Cooperation initiative has just been extended until 30 June 2026 and is open to eligible bodies along EU-IPA borders.
If you or relevant stakeholders among you network want to know more about the initiative and the ongoing call, we invite you to register for the info session on 25 February 2026 from 11am to 12pm CET. During the session, we will provide an overview of the initiative, guide you through the application process, and offer space for participants to ask questions. Registration is possible via this link.
b-solutions is promoted by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy (DG REGIO) and managed by the Association of European Border Regions (AEBR).
Border regions are laboratories of European integration and in alignment with Interreg Specific Objective (ISO) 1 : A better Cooperation governance, b-solutions’ goal is to identify solutions to legal and administrative obstacles hindering cross-border cooperation.
For concrete examples of obstacles, you can consult the b-solutions online library and browse among the 165 cases of border obstacles related to transport, healthcare, education and many other fields affecting life in border regions.
Who can apply
The current call for new cases is open to public bodies like municipalities, regions, hospitals, regional agencies, and cross-border structures, including EGTCs along borders between EU-EU, EU-EFTA, and EU-IPA countries.
Support provided
Selected cases will benefit from the legal expertise of professionals knowledgeable of the specific border region, languages, and cross-border dynamics. These experts will conduct interviews, research legal or administrative obstacles, and provide a report with their solutions. The experts are contracted and paid directly by AEBR.
