GreenSoil+
Priority Axis 2: Green investments in environmental protection and efficient risk management
Operation start date: 1 July 2026
Operation completion date: 30 June 2028
Budget: EUR 1.510.025,00
Number of partners: 4
Operation purpose and expected achievements:
The GreenSoil+ project aims to promote the transition towards a circular and resource-efficient economy in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro by establishing innovative biowaste management systems that transform organic waste into valuable resources for sustainable urban and peri-urban development. The project addresses common cross-border challenges related to organic waste disposal, soil degradation, and inefficient resource utilisation through the introduction of locally adapted composting and technosol production models. Planned activities include the implementation of pilot composting systems, the production and application of compost and technosol from biowaste and stabilised sewage sludge, the deployment of specialised processing equipment and digital monitoring technologies, and the organisation of capacity-building programmes and public awareness campaigns. Through pilot investments, innovative technical solutions, stakeholder training, and cross-border knowledge exchange, the project will strengthen the operational capacities of utility companies and public authorities to implement sustainable biowaste management practices, reduce landfill disposal, improve soil quality and climate resilience, and support the long-term adoption of circular economy principles across the Programme area.
