Interreg IPA Cross-border Cooperation Programme Croatia-Bosnia and Herzegovina-Montenegro organized this year’s Interreg Cooperation Day celebration in Split and in Pučišća under the slogan „Year of Skills“.

On 26 September in Split, the Interreg Cooperation Day was celebrated with students of Faculty of Maritime Studies. The event aimed to present the and the projects funded through it, which are aligned with this year’s theme of “Year of Skills”. Students and other interested individuals had the opportunity to learn about the Programme and explore ways in which they can actively participate in projects. The projects were presented through exhibition providing valuable insights into their experiences and achievements. The participants had the opportunity to hear how students of dental medicine participated in the project Mobile Access Dental Clinic – MADE, and how they travelled through our Programme area in Zubobus and examined the oral health of all interested passers-by. This was also an excellent opportunity for them to check their oral health in Zubobus that was presented in the faculty parking lot. Also, the Programme introduced students to the “Interreg Volunteer Youth” (IVY) initiative that represents a unique opportunity for young people who want to have an impact on the world we live in, by supporting solidarity actions through cooperation.

The first day was concluded with a visit to the Croatian Maritime Museum in Split, which was project partner in Wrecks4All project financed through our Programme.

On 27 September, the celebration continued in Pučišća, on the beautiful island of Brač, in Stonemasonry School – the only school that educates future masters of stonemasonry by using ancient Roman hand tools in the teaching and learning process. This offered a unique chance to discover the age-old traditional skill of stonemasonry, which is well-known and specific to our Programme area. The event aimed to present this skill to the entire European community, highlighting its significance and cultural heritage. Participants had the opportunity to engage in interactive activities and learn more about this traditional skill.

The celebration of the Interreg Cooperation Day in Split and Pučišća was a successful event that aimed to promote Interreg and encourage active participation in projects, while at the same time showing successful Programme achievements, rich cultural heritage and unique skills of the Programme area.
