About

The project aims to strengthen the potential of unused natural resources in the cross-border region and contribute to the development of sustainable tourism. Project partners are in charge for improving three natural assets and developing the regional birdwatching route PA.CON. The route includes three accessible bird habitats: National Park Skadar Lake (ME), the Sopotac site (Nijemci, HR) and the forest Ilinčica (Tuzla, BA). The bird habitats are marked and connected with the complementary tourism supporting facilities and infrastructure. Project partners are procuring 50 bicycles for visitors to use. In addition, 6 trainings for target groups in tourism are organized (2 in each country) on destination management and quality assurance to foster the communication and collaboration mechanisms among all relevant stakeholders.

Partners

The lead partner, Municipality of Nijemci (HR) is responsible for improving bird habitats and picnic area Sopotac by the construction of supporting infrastructure and supporting tourist facilities: suspension bridge on Bosut for pedestrians and cyclists, birdwatching center at the Sopotac picnic area equipped with multimedia facilities and a solar station, arranged circular cycling and educational route of 45 km with 5 equipped bicycle stations, one solar station for charging electric bicycles and 15 signposts.

Tuzla City (BA) is responsible for improving tourism offer in park Ilinčica (Tuzla, BA) with construction of supporting infrastructure and tourism supporting facilities: arrangement of three resting plateaus in Ilinčica park from which the visitors have a view on the city Tuzla along with arrangement of a bicycle path in the length of approximately 3 km, to connect the resting plateaus with the cycling-educational route through Ilinčica.

Development Association NERDA (BA) is responsible for improving tourism offer in park Ilinčica (Tuzla, BA) with construction of supporting infrastructure and supporting tourist facilities: reconstructed and equipped “Dom prirode” with landscaped environment, arranged 3 lookouts and 16 resting places and a bicycle-educational route of 4 km at the picnic area Ilinčica, binoculars and one photo camera and 20 bicycles (10 for children and 10 for adults suitable for cycling in mountain and forest terrain) with helmets  to cycle along the cycling-educational route signaled and mapped throughout the Ilinčica site. NERDA is also organizing Study visit to Slovenia and Italy (Škocjanski zatok in Slovenia and Fiere del Bird-watching in Commachi and Ravenna, Italy) to learn from EU experience in tourism and bird-watching.

Centre for Protection and Research of Birds (ME) is responsible for improving natural assets and bird habitats at the National Park Skadar Lake (ME) with supporting tourism facilities: solar-powered boat to promote and provide birdwatching tours in sustainable way in the area of the Skadar Lake, marked 41 km of cycling route from Virpazar to Ckle for bird watching with 50 signposts and 4 educational boards, 7 solar benches set on locations in the area of NP Skadar Lake (Virapzar, Vranjina, Rijeka Crnojevica, etc.) available for all visitors of the site.

Public Enterprise for National Parks of Montenegro (ME) is responsible for improving natural assets and bird habitats at the National Park Skadar Lake (ME) with construction of supporting infrastructure and supporting tourist facilities: adapted and equipped two info centers for the promotion of Skadar Lake (Vranjina and Virpazar), the old railway embankment on the dike near Virpazar restored and transformed into 406 m long promenade/walking trail, set up 2 observation posts for bird watching, a pontoon for nesting pelicans, purchase and installation of 10 solar stations for electric bicycles and 10 electric bicycle available for visitors of Skadar Lake located near the Info centre in Virpazar.
