A smart pest detection trap has been installed in a vineyard in Lovorno Polje, as part of the Crossmart project, funded by the European Union through the Interreg IPA Cross-border Cooperation Programme HR–BA–ME. The smart trap enables data collection, processing, and analysis, including automatic detection and prediction of pest development in both larval and adult stages. It also provides reporting capabilities, data overviews, and a detailed weather forecast available through the application.
Additionally, under the same project, the Municipality of Konavle has received a drone equipped with a 5MP multispectral camera for crop scanning and analysis, featuring intelligent terrain reconnaissance and the ability to capture aerial footage, particularly useful for monitoring steep terrain landscapes.
It is worth recalling that three agrometeorological stations were previously installed, and the next step involves the establishment of two sophisticated laboratories for wine and olive oil quality control. The total value of this equipment is 274,631.18 euro including VAT. The laboratories will be located in the Konavle Rural Centre, which is also being renovated with project funds within the former fire station premises in Gruda.
The aim of the Crossmart project is to develop the innovation capacities of farmers by ensuring access to and use of modern agricultural technologies, specifically designed to monitor quality in the production process, primarily of wine and olive oil.
Furthermore, the project will establish a joint Crossmart platform as a foundation for the development of smart agriculture in the cross-border area.
The project is funded under the Interreg IPA Croatia – Bosnia and Herzegovina – Montenegro programme and includes six partners: the Centre for Entrepreneurship of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County (lead partner), the Municipality of Konavle, the Office for European Integration of the Central Bosnia Canton, the Municipality of Tuzi, the University of Zagreb Faculty of Agriculture, and the Association for Economic Development REDAH.
The total project budget amounts to 1,516,844.60 euro, of which the budget allocated to the Municipality of Konavle is 507,780.00 euro.
