As part of the RECIRCLE project, ten recycling machines have been installed and put into operation in eight local government units of the Central Bosnia Canton: Busovača, Travnik, Novi Travnik, Vitez, Bugojno, Gornji Vakuf–Uskoplje, Donji Vakuf, and Jajce.

The project is carried out in partnership with the Office for European Integration, Funds, Public Relations and Quality according to International Standards of the Central Bosnia Canton, which is responsible for implementing project activities in the Canton.

The aim of the RECIRCLE project is to improve the waste management system through innovative and sustainable solutions, raise citizens’ awareness of the importance of recycling, and, as an added value, encourage social solidarity by linking environmental activities with humanitarian goals. The project promotes the principles of the circular economy and strengthens the importance of cross-border cooperation among local communities.

The recycling machines allow citizens to deposit plastic and glass bottles, as well as cans, with their equivalent value being converted either into direct benefits for citizens or donations for humanitarian purposes. This innovative practice combines care for the environment with care for people, motivating communities to actively participate in creating a cleaner environment and a more humane society.

In the first campaign, which will run until the end of this year, the collected funds will be donated to the Educational and Rehabilitation Centre “Duga” in Novi Travnik, which has for many years provided social care, upbringing, and education for children and young people with developmental disabilities. The total monetary equivalent for the number of collected bottles in the mentioned period will be financed by the Ministry of Physical Planning, Construction, Environmental Protection, Return and Housing Affairs of the Central Bosnia Canton.
