As part of the CrossWaste project, the Municipality of Brod has procured and put into operation a mobile construction waste crusher, representing a significant step towards improving sustainable and circular waste management practices at the local level.

The crusher is designed for the processing of construction and bulky waste, transforming it into reusable material suitable for secondary use, particularly for road embankment and infrastructure maintenance. By recycling construction waste directly on-site, the municipality reduces the amount of waste sent to landfills while simultaneously lowering costs related to the procurement of new raw materials.

To ensure safe and efficient use of the equipment, employees of the Public Utility Company “Komvod” a.d. have undergone professional training for operating the crusher. The training focused on safe handling procedures, operational efficiency, and practical application of the machine in real working conditions.

The crusher is a mobile unit, allowing it to be transported and used at various locations within the municipality, depending on operational needs. Its flexibility and mobility significantly enhance the municipality’s capacity to respond to construction waste management challenges in both urban and rural areas.

Following the completion of the training, demonstration road embankment works were successfully implemented using recycled construction waste, thereby demonstrating the practical use of the procured equipment and its environmental and economic benefits.

By introducing this advanced equipment and accompanying activities, the Municipality of Brod has taken an important step towards modernizing waste management, promoting resource efficiency, and supporting the principles of the circular economy, while directly improving environmental protection and local infrastructure.

The CrossWaste project aims to enhance cross-border cooperation in sustainable waste management by introducing innovative solutions, strengthening institutional capacities, and promoting environmentally responsible practices in the project area.

The project is funded through the Interreg VI-A IPA Croatia – Bosnia and Herzegovina – Montenegro Programme 2021–2027 and is jointly implemented by the Municipalities of Brod and Borovo, in cooperation with relevant public utility and service providers.
