Our PA.CON II – Pannonia–Adriatic Connection II project brought together participants from Montenegro and local stakeholders in Tuzla through activities promoting sustainable tourism, environmentally friendly mobility and greater awareness of the area’s natural values.
As part of the project, 20 participants from Montenegro took part in a thematic visit to Tuzla, exploring the city’s tourism potential and visiting facilities and infrastructure developed and improved through the PA.CON I and PA.CON II projects.
One of the highlights was Ilinčica, where participants visited the Nature House and learned more about the site’s recreational and tourism offer. Through PA.CON II, a birdwatching tower was constructed, while the existing pedestrian and cycling connection between Ilinčica and the city centre was further enhanced with electric bicycles and related infrastructure, including an e-bike charging station and a bicycle repair station.
Sustainable mobility was also an important part of the visit. Participants began their sightseeing tour using an electric vehicle procured through our project, experiencing how environmentally friendly transport can contribute to more sustainable tourism.
The programme also included visits to the Pannonian Lakes and the International Portrait Gallery, offering participants an opportunity to discover different aspects of Tuzla’s natural, recreational and cultural tourism offer.
Alongside the thematic visit, our PA.CON II project is also bringing environmental messages into public spaces through promotional murals in Tuzla.
Development Association NERDA has completed the first promotional mural on the exterior wall of the “Pčelica” kindergarten, operated within the “Naše dijete” Public Institution in Tuzla. The mural features a child-friendly bee motif, highlighting the importance of pollinators for biodiversity and healthy ecosystems and encouraging environmental awareness from an early age.
The mural was created using photocatalytic paints, further connecting the artistic intervention with the project’s environmental objectives. The promotional murals are intended to bring natural values closer to citizens and visitors through creative and engaging visual content, with themes covering native flora and fauna, biodiversity, ecological connectivity, natural heritage and sustainable tourism.
Preparations are already underway for a second promotional mural at another location in Tuzla, continuing the development of a unique urban gallery dedicated to natural heritage and sustainability.
Through these complementary activities, our PA.CON II project is connecting sustainable tourism, green mobility, nature protection and environmental awareness, while strengthening cross-border cooperation and bringing the natural and cultural values of the project area closer to local communities and visitors.
