As part of the PA.CON II project, the Development Association NERDA organised a three-day field training session in Herzegovina from 1–3 June 2026, completing the seven-day programme “Birdwatching as a Factor of Tourism in the Development of Local Communities.”

The training combined fieldwork, expert lectures, and practical exercises to equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed to develop birdwatching tourism and promote sustainable tourism based on natural heritage.

Participants visited several important nature sites, including Blagaj, the Buna River Spring, Hutovo Blato Nature Park, and the Vjetrenica–Popovo Polje area, gaining hands-on experience in birdwatching and learning about biodiversity conservation and visitor management.

The programme brought together tourism students, future tourist guides, and representatives of organisations active in nature conservation and sustainable development.
Through these activities, the PA.CON II project continues to strengthen local capacities for birdwatching tourism, supporting the sustainable use of natural resources and the long-term development of local communities.
