Operation purpose and expected achievements:
The main objective of the SINERGY project is to strengthen social, economic and territorial development in the cross-border area of Tuzla, Vukovar and Herceg Novi through improvement of energy efficiency in public sector infrastructure, specifically sport facilities, and promotion of energy efficiency measures and education in this field. Key project’s interventions include upgrading Mejdan sports centre in Tuzla with an energy-efficient glass facade, installing LED lighting and heat pumps in Vukovar’s sports centre, and introducing smart LED lighting in Igalo’s sports centre. Education programs will raise awareness and ensure the sustainability of improved energy practices. The SINERGY project’s investments will significantly enhance sports infrastructure, benefiting not only the local population but also visitors and the broader cross-border population attending sports, cultural and entertainment events.

Beneficiaries:

The Lead Partner (LP), City of Tuzla (BA), is responsible for coordinating activities between project partners, and coordinating meetings of the project team and project advisory board. The main task of LP will be rehabilitation and replacement of the glass facade in order to reduce energy losses and prevent leakage in the “Mejdan” Sports Centre, which will contribute to awareness raising and capacity building through training for employees of sports centres, clubs and visitors to sports events.

Sport facilities Vukovar (HR) is responsible for EE lightning and heat pumps installation at sports centre in Vukovar with the main goal of reducing energy consumption. Sports Facilities Vukovar will also participate in all project activities, sports, and educational ones, with the aim to contribute to strengthening of social, economic, and territorial development in the cross-border area.

Municipality of Herceg Novi (ME) is responsible for the installation of new EE lighting system, i.e. replacing the existing metal-halogen lighting with more energy-efficient LED lighting in the “Igalo” Sports Centre in Herceg Novi. Project partner will participate in all main activities, such as organization of events in MNE, opening ceremony and educational training for local authorities and children in Herceg Novi, participating in activities of visibility and promotion etc.

Centre for ecology and energy (BA) is responsible for conducting/coordinating an analysis related to the baseline and possibilities for further improving EE in three sports centres in three cities; creating a plan and implementing the education activities for different target groups in these three centres; creating an education program for participants and visitors at various sports and cultural events; design and delivery of a media campaign to educate citizens of Tuzla, Vukovar and Herceg Novi and thus promote energy efficient solutions. CEE will coordinate communication and promotional activities among all project partners.
