The strategic project LIFEGATE, recently contracted within the Interreg VI-A IPA Programme Croatia–Bosnia and Herzegovina–Montenegro 2021–2027, aims to significantly enhance healthcare services in cross-border regions, potentially extending the lives of many residents.
LIFEGATE – Linking International Facilities for Early Detection and Global Access to Treatment and Evaluation – is a 9.54 million euro initiative, co-financed with 85% support from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the IPA III Fund. Its core mission is to reduce mortality caused by cardiovascular and malignant diseases by improving access to comprehensive healthcare across all levels.
The University Clinical Hospital Mostar (Bosnia and Herzegovina) serves as the Lead partner, collaborating with six other prominent institutions from Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro. The project falls under Priority Axis 3: “Accessible and Resilient Health Services”, and specifically under Specific Objective 4.5: “Ensuring Equal Access to Health Care and Fostering Resilience of Health Systems, Including Primary Care, and Promoting the Transition from Institutional to Family and Community-Based Care.” It is scheduled to run for 36 months.
