As part of the AllerShield project, new air quality monitoring stations have been installed in the cities of Biograd na Moru and Nin, as well as the municipality of Starigrad. This is the first time such stations have been installed in these areas of Zadar County, marking a significant step forward in environmental monitoring.
Air quality stations measure:
- basic meteorological indicators (temperature, humidity, pressure, etc.)
- concentrations of harmful gases: CO, SO₂, NO, NO₂, O₃
- particulate matter: PM10, PM2.5, PM1
In addition to Air quality stations, pollen samplers have been installed at three locations:
- City of Nin – rooftop of the Fire Station
- Municipality of Starigrad – rooftop of Bluesun hotel Alan, Starigrad – Paklenica
- City of Biograd na Moru – rooftop of the Business Incubator building Biograd n/M
These pollen samplers bring multiple benefits:
- For the local community: timely information for individuals suffering from allergies
- For tourism: helps sensitive visitors plan their stay more comfortably
- For the AllerShield project: contributes to scientific monitoring and the development of measures to improve quality of life
In a fun twist, each pollen sampler has even been given its own name, adding a touch of personality to this technical endeavor—because even technology can have character!
The data from these stations will be made available to the public in the second half of 2026 via a mobile application, enabling transparent real-time monitoring of air quality.
We extend our sincere thanks to everyone involved in the installation process—local government leaders, institutions that provided rooftop access, Voluntary Fire Department “Pljusak” – Nin and all staff who contributed to making this important step for public health and the environment a reality.
