On 16 April 2026, a DEMO training session within the MARROBO project was successfully conducted at the Faculty of Maritime Studies Kotor. The training took place in the newly established Marine Robotics Innovation Center (MARIC) and brought together 21 participants from various sectors—primarily academic staff, along with representatives of municipalities, students, non-governmental organizations, and industry.

The programme aimed to strengthen capacities for the application of underwater robotics in monitoring and protecting the marine environment. The DEMO training combined theoretical lectures, hands-on practical work, and immersive learning through virtual reality. During the full-day programme, participants were introduced to contemporary approaches in underwater robotics. Following the theoretical segment, a VR application simulating the operation of a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) was presented, while the final part focused on the practical deployment of ROV technology.

The training was conducted in accordance with ISO 9001:2015 standards, including an evaluation of learning outcomes. Participants who successfully completed the programme were awarded the “Innovative Marine Robotics Deployment” certificate. The training programme will be certified by the Croatian Register of Shipping.

The DEMO training was organized and implemented by the Faculty of Maritime Studies Kotor, under the coordination of the lead partner—the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences, University of Zagreb—with the support of other project partners. This event marks an important step toward the finalization and certification of the training programme, as well as the continued advancement of innovation in the field of marine robotics.
