A ceremonial handover of a new ambulance vehicle procured within the RACE 2 – (RACE FOR LIFE 2) project was held today at the Health Center Mostar. The project is implemented under the Interreg VI-A IPA Programme Croatia-Bosnia and Herzegovina-Montenegro 2021-2027.

The acquisition of this modern ambulance significantly strengthens the capacities of the Emergency Medical Service of the Health Center Mostar, ensuring faster, safer, and higher-quality patient transport, as well as an overall improvement in the provision of healthcare services in Mostar and the wider region.

The RACE 2 project is implemented by the Health Center Mostar as the leading partner in Bosnia and Herzegovina, together with the Institute for Emergency Medical Care of Zagreb County and the Institute for Emergency Medical Care of Montenegro. Through this partnership, the project enhances cross-border cooperation between medical institutions, upgrades standards and procedures, provides professional training for medical staff, and equips emergency services with modern medical and transport equipment.

Kristina Bevanda, Director of the Health Center Mostar:

“This vehicle marks an important step forward in improving our emergency medical service. Thanks to the RACE 2 project, our teams will have even better conditions for providing timely and high-quality assistance to citizens. We continuously invest in strengthening our infrastructure, education, and equipment, and today’s handover is a clear reflection of those efforts.”

Ines Ćorić, RACE 2 Project Manager:

“The RACE 2 project delivers concrete and visible results in strengthening emergency medical services across the cross-border region. The procurement of this vehicle further demonstrates that cooperation between institutions from the three participating countries brings real and sustainable impact. I would especially like to highlight that the Emergency Medical Service of the Health Center Mostar, thanks to the EU-funded RACE project, has become an example of good practice for other emergency services in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Continuous investment in equipment, training, and quality standards shows how important such projects are for citizens and for the healthcare system as a whole.”
