As part of the CBC GAIN project, supported by the Interreg IPA CBC Programme Croatia – Bosnia and Herzegovina – Montenegro 2021–2027, three exciting GameDev meetups were recently held in Novska, Mostar, and Podgorica. These events brought together developers, enthusiasts, and industry professionals to strengthen the regional gaming ecosystem and spark collaboration across borders.
In Croatia, the PISMO Business Incubator hosted its second GameDev Meetup in Novska, offering practical insights on investment strategies and visibility in the indie scene. The event featured successful developers who shared their journeys and experiences with launching games and growing communities without large marketing budgets.
Meanwhile, in Bosnia and Herzegovina, INTERA Technology Park welcomed guests to the newly launched Gaming Development Center in Mostar. Attendees participated in a hands-on tour of the facilities, listened to panel discussions, and exchanged ideas on how to build a sustainable regional game dev ecosystem. “As for INTERA Technology Park, this is a huge step forward. Bringing in gaming studios, independent developers, or individuals working in the field – including outsourcing workforce for major studios – opens up an entirely new industry. It will create new jobs and put Mostar on the map as a potential hub for video game development in Bosnia and Herzegovina,” said Ivan Tadić from Bajtbox.
In Montenegro, ICT Cortex organized a dynamic meetup in Podgorica, marking a key step toward establishing the country’s first GameDev Center. The event highlighted the need for accessible education, mentorship, and infrastructure to empower local developers and create a thriving indie scene.
“For SIMORA & PISMO NOVSKA, which is already a successful business incubator which provided me a place and excellent conditions to start my company, initiative of creating an accelerator is great and logical step forward for further development of companies which have been located there for many years, are no longer start-ups and are in need of further development. This project and initiative excite me and my “neighbours” in PISMO”, said Stefan Vedrina, Co-Founder and CTO of HIROMA.
All three meetups showcased the power of regional collaboration and underscored the growing potential of the gaming industry in the Western Balkans. With dedicated support and engaged communities, the CBC GAIN project continues to open new doors for young talent and creative innovation.
