The PATODIGITAL project, led by General Hospital Bar in Montenegro, is advancing the modernisation of healthcare infrastructure through the ongoing reconstruction of the hospital’s pathology department. The works began in July 2026 and are expected to be completed by the end of December 2026.

This investment is an important step towards creating modern, functional facilities that will support the introduction of digital pathology technologies and improve the conditions for delivering specialised diagnostic services.

Upgrading Infrastructure for Digital Pathology

The reconstruction focuses on adapting and upgrading the existing pathology facilities at General Hospital Bar to meet modern technical and functional standards. The improved premises will provide appropriate conditions for the installation and use of modern diagnostic equipment and digital pathology solutions.

Once completed, the upgraded facilities are expected to support more efficient diagnostic processes, facilitate timely and accurate diagnoses, and strengthen the hospital’s diagnostic capacity. The investment will also establish the necessary infrastructure for the long-term use of digital technologies and innovative diagnostic practices.

Strengthening Cross-Border Cooperation in Healthcare

Through the modernisation of pathology infrastructure and the promotion of digital transformation, our PATODIGITAL project contributes to addressing shared healthcare challenges across the programme area.

By supporting the adoption of innovative diagnostic approaches and creating better conditions for professional cooperation and knowledge exchange, the project aims to strengthen the capacities of participating healthcare institutions and contribute to improved access to specialised healthcare services.

The reconstruction of the pathology department at General Hospital Bar represents a tangible step towards more modern healthcare services and stronger cross-border cooperation in healthcare across the participating regions.
